Just when did you think your desktop display was big enough? Well, behold! Apple has released its new iMac 27″, which in my opinion is the ultimate dream machine for all designers. With its 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution, 375 cd/m2 brightness powered by LED technology, Quad-core Intel Core i5 CPU processors and advanced graphics, the new Apple iMac is the fastest and most powerful iMac yet. Designers love large displays in their line of work, and iMac 27″ is perfect in this regard.
Creativebits has some interesting statistics to share regarding its size. Here is what you can do:
- Fit two windows of Safari with regular 1024 websites next to each other and still have space on both sides (Holy Cow).
- Have Photoshop, Text editor, a browser window and a text editor with HTML open next to each other.
- Open a spread of A4 or letter size documents at 1:1 with plenty of space for palettes and menus.
- Edit full HD video at 1:1 with plenty of room for navigation.
- Run XP and Ubuntu as virtual machines side by side at 1280×1024 resolution plus plenty of space at the bottom.
- View appr. 260 folders in Finder at the default 48px icon size.
